Oven cooked bacon

Cooking bacon in the oven is an easy, mess-free way to make crispy bacon for a crowd.

Cooking time: 18 minutes
Yield: 5 servings
  • 1 pound bacon
  1. Preheat the oven: Heat your oven to 400°F. (You can also start with a cold oven and set it to 400°F to help render the fat slowly.)
  2. Prepare the pan: Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper to catch the grease. For extra crispy bacon, place a metal wire cooling rack on top of the lined sheet.
  3. Arrange the bacon: Lay the bacon strips on the pan in a single layer. They can touch, but do not let them overlap.
  4. Bake: Cook for 14 to 18 minutes for regular-cut bacon, or 18 to 22 minutes for thick-cut bacon, until it reaches your preferred crispness.
  5. Drain and serve: Use tongs to transfer the cooked slices to a plate lined with paper towels. Let them cool for a few minutes before eating.
